Letni dum has been helping children and youth from institutional children’s homes since 1997.

Letni dum’s mission is to help children and youth from institutional children’s homes to discover and use their inner strengths and balance on their journey to independent and satisfying living. We undertake it mainly through regular social-therapeutic stays and visits in their children´s homes.

                                 Our concept of children’s homes client programs is largely based on working with colours. Colours open new experiences, relaxation, common creativity and the sense of capability, of enjoyment, release.

 Social-therapeutic stays, where we aim to give the children and youth from children’s homes the sense of acceptance, trust and support. There is opportunity for them to improve their social interactions and build positive relationship towards themselves as well as their environment in a friendly atmosphere. A practical skill training is included as well, enabling the clients to function independently when they leave institutional care.

<67-5328-0>Community programs in children’s homes, connecting the environment within the home and the surrounding community. They also serve as a means of introducing the public to institutional care issues. Clients themselves participate in preparing these programs.

<67-5328-0>Regular visits of Letni dum staff to children’s homes. Apart from meeting the children and youth, we also spend time with the management and staff. This is a way to get feed back on our activities and learn about the children’s needs from the viewpoint of people, who are in everyday contact with them.

Stays in a training flat, where young people elder 15 years prepare themselves for an independent living by training in practical skills, such as buying food, cooking, finance management, finding a job or an accommodation. As a part of this program are free time activities and healthy life style.

 Individual accompanying youth on their journey to independent living. We are here for them to help them with paper job, to find an accommodation or a job etc.

 Exhibitions, where we present art work of children and youth from children’s homes to the public. We believe that it is essential for the children to experience the feeling of being recognised for their diligence and talents. It is also beneficial for the visitors to perceive the quality of the artwork and get acquainted with institutional care issues through them.
